Mentor/Tutor (Volunteer Position)
Serviam Girls Academy is currently recruiting mentors for girls in grades 5-8.
Mentor Role
• Take the lead in supporting a young person through an ongoing, one-to-one relationship
• Serve as a positive role model and friend
• Build the relationship by participating in activities together
• Strive for mutual respect
• Build self-esteem and motivation
• Help set goals and work toward accomplishing them
Time Commitment
• Monday-Thursday from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
• Attend an initial hour training session
• Attend optional mentor/mentee group events, mentor support groups, and program
recognition events

Master Teacher
Serviam Girls Academy – a Nativity Miguel modeled middle school for a girl in grades 5-8, is currently recruiting for the position of Master Teacher. Strong candidates are experienced in the classroom, disciplined workers, compassionate listeners and tireless advocates for the young women SGA will serve. SGA is looking for educators with high energy and enthusiasm who enjoy collaborative teamwork. Most importantly, the candidate will approach their work as a vocation. Responsibilities include oversight of 15 5th/6th/7th or /8th grade students and instruction in core curriculum areas.
Ideal candidates possess the following:
- 3-5 years classroom experience in middle school setting
- Experience with or demonstrated desire to serve at-risk youth
- Certification or appropriate Masters Degree
- Clear understanding of the mission and focus of a NativityMiguel modeled education

Intern Teacher
Serviam Girls Academy is an independent Catholic middle school dedicated to providing a rigorous, college preparatory, full scholarship education to middle school girls of all faiths from economically disadvantaged families in and around Wilmington, Delaware. We are looking for recent college graduates who feel a commitment to education, and children, and who feel excited about the idea of being part of a new NativityMiguel modeled school.
The intern's primary responsibilities will be working with middle school girls in the classroom with assistance and supervision from a master teacher; coaching sports; managing a major area of school life such as the kitchen, the sports program, maintenance of buildings and grounds, etc. While it is recognized that the interns will have little or no teaching experience, the entire atmosphere is one of collaboration and mutual learning. Hours are long, work is tiring but rewards are innumerable!
Compensation package will include medical, community housing, and a monthly stipend. Upon successful completion of the internship, teachers will be eligible for the AmeriCorps educational grant valued at approximately $4500.
